How it is calculated
At 1:50, one centimetre on paper is 50 centimetres in reality: divide the real measurement by 50 to draw it, multiply the paper measurement by 50 to read it.
Imperial scales are written differently: "1/4 in = 1 ft" means a quarter of an inch on paper is one foot, that is 1:48; "1/8 in = 1 ft" is 1:96.
A 5 m room fits on a letter sheet at 1:25; a 30 m lot needs 1:150 or more. In Planimonde, the export picks the round scale that fills the page and prints a reference bar to check with a ruler.
